Green Cedar International School began with a question: what would it take to give children in Kampala an education rooted in both academic excellence and unmistakable Christian conviction, not as two competing priorities, but as one?
I had spent years watching families search for that combination and settle for half of it. Schools with strong academics that treated faith as an add-on. Schools with strong faith formation that couldn't compete academically. I wanted to build a school where a child's character and a child's competence grew from the same root.
That's where the name comes from. A cedar is slow-growing and deep-rooted, and it's strong because of both. We named the school for what we wanted our students to become: rooted in who they are, growing in what they know, leading because of both.
Green Cedar opened its doors in Seguku, Kampala, in August 2026, welcoming students from Preschool through Grade 5. We built the school on a single, clear academic pathway: ACE for our youngest learners, and Cambridge International from Year 1 onward, carrying that foundation into a globally recognised curriculum.
Green Cedar was built by a small founding community, families and staff who chose to be part of something from its very first term. That beginning shapes how we work, but it isn't the whole story: what matters most is the school we continue to become.
