Green Cedar International School began with a question: what would it take to give children in Kampala an education rooted in both academic excellence and unmistakable Christian conviction, not as two competing priorities, but as one?
Many families had spent years searching for that combination and settling for half of it — schools with strong academics that treated faith as an add-on, or schools with strong faith formation that couldn't compete academically. Green Cedar was founded to close that gap: a school where a child's character and a child's competence grow from the same root.
That's where the name comes from. A cedar is slow-growing and deep-rooted, and it's strong because of both. We named the school for what we wanted our students to become: rooted in who they are, growing in what they know, leading because of both.
Green Cedar opened its doors in Seguku, Kampala, in August 2026, welcoming its founding students in Preschool. Every family chooses the curriculum that fits their child from Year 1: ACE, continuing through Grade 6 before transitioning into Cambridge International, or Cambridge International from the very start, carrying through to Year 13.
Green Cedar was built by a small founding community, families and staff who chose to be part of something from its very first term. That beginning shapes how we work, but it isn't the whole story: what matters most is the school we continue to become.
